The perception that Africa is a hostile environment for business is a misconception that deserves to be challenged. What should capture the attention of Brazilian investors is the emergence of a continent that is growing, developing, and offering significant opportunities for investment and commercial expansion.

Africa has become increasingly important to global corporations across multiple sectors. Over the past two decades, it has been among the fastest-growing regions in the world, driven by economic expansion, rapid urbanization, demographic growth, and rising consumer demand. With a combined GDP of approximately US$ 2.5 trillion, around 60% of the world's uncultivated arable land, and the fastest-growing population globally, Africa is projected to become one of the world's most dynamic consumer markets. According to the consulting firm McKinsey, consumer and business spending on the continent could reach nearly US$ 5.5 trillion by 2030.

Despite these fundamentals, many Brazilian companies still do not consider Africa as a destination for investment or international expansion. In many cases, this is due to outdated perceptions and limited knowledge of the continent's economic realities, market opportunities, and business ecosystems. Overcoming these misconceptions is essential to unlocking the full potential of Brazil–Africa economic relations.

Commercial Connections Across

Multiple Sectors.

The development prospects across multiple sectors in African countries continue to create and expand opportunities for business, trade, and strategic partnerships. Macroeconomic policies in many African economies have become increasingly consistent and stable over recent decades. International institutions such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the African Development Bank (AfDB) have played an important role in supporting economic reforms, improving fiscal management, and strengthening the business environment.

Efforts to address inflation, fiscal deficits, and regulatory challenges have gained momentum across the continent. Rwanda, for example, is often recognized for its progress in improving the ease of doing business and public sector efficiency. Overall, African countries are increasingly better prepared to attract investment and support sustainable economic growth.

The second edition of Expo África Brasil demonstrated the growing interest in Africa's economic transformation, highlighting advances in economic policy, greater market integration, increased fiscal flexibility, and stronger regional cooperation. The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) represents an extraordinary opportunity to expand trade and strengthen commercial relations between African countries, Brazil, and the broader Latin American region.

Democratic governance, market-oriented reforms, and private-sector development continue to shape economic growth across many African nations. Countries such as Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Tanzania, and Zambia have emerged as important regional markets with significant business potential. At the same time, efforts to strengthen transparency, improve governance, and combat corruption remain key priorities across the continent.

Our role is to connect Brazilian companies and organizations from across the Americas with businesses, institutions, and opportunities throughout Africa, creating pathways for international trade, investment, partnerships, and sustainable growth across multiple sectors.
